Dr. Lucy Liu, DMD, RD
Dr. Lucy (Zhenzi) Liu holds both dentist (DMD) and denturist (RD) licenses in Canada. She has practiced at Aurora Dental Clinic since 2017.
Dr. Liu has a passion for dentistry. She has studied and worked in several countries and loves meeting new people from diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Liu obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Dentistry with specialties in Oral Medicine and Periodontics at Shandong University in China. She then worked for 8 years as a Periodontist at the Dental Hospital at Shandong University, while acting as a lecturer and clinical instructor.
Dr. Liu continued her studies and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Heidelberg University in Germany in 2006. She then moved to Canada, where she worked as a postdoc and teaching assistant at UBC and practiced as an Associate in multiple clinics before settling in to practice at Aurora. Dr. Liu is active in the oral health community, and has provided one-on-one instruction for foreign-trained dentists studying for board exams. She was a Clinical Instructor at CDI College from 2017 – 2022.
Dr. Liu is passionate about constantly improving her knowledge and providing the best care for her patients. She is a Senior Continuum Alum for the Maxi Course, an intensive dental implant and grafting study club that she has attended since 2018.
Dr. James Hsia, BSc., DMD
Dr. James Hsia has practiced general dentistry since 1981. In his extensive career, he has watched patients grow up at Aurora Dental, and treated many patients as a general dentist. He has treated many patients with TMJ (jaw joint), facial asymmetry, and orthodontic problems.

A graduate of UBC, Dr. Hsia holds a BSc. in Biochemistry, and a DMD (Doctorate in Dentistry). Dr. Hsia advocates a preventative approach to improve dental health and overall well-being. Dr. Hsia is passionate about educating patients about oral health concerns and teaching them strategies to achieve optimal oral health.
Dr. Hsia has two daughters. His eldest daughter is a chiropractor and teacher, and his youngest is a Prosthodontist in the faculty at the University of Washington. In his spare time, he restores classic cars and motorcycles. He loves to go sailing and fishing with family and friends.
Kyla Imbat, RDH
Kyla received her Dental Hygiene Diploma at Vancouver Community College. She enjoys educating patients on their oral health and helping them improve both their smiles and overall health. Kyla enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, playing tennis, and going for walks. She also enjoys watching movies with friends and family.
Avneet Kang, RDH
Avneet graduated with a diploma in Sport Science in 2018 from Douglas College, and transferred to dental hygiene to pursue her passion for oral health. In 2020, she graduated from Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene and joined the Aurora team.

A strong believer in education, Avneet is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s of Dental Hygiene at UBC. As a dental hygienist, her goal is to provide the best possible care to all of her patients. Outside of work, Avneet enjoys cooking, watching movies and tv shows, and spending time with her family.
